Pillars of the Earth. Credit: Viking 2. Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett. Ken Follett’s masterpiece is not fantasy, but it taps into all the things that make Game Of Thrones so brilliant
Top 10 fantasy books to read if you’re a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan Sword and sorcery, blood and fire. Jonathan Wright Aug 11, 2023 5:48 pm 2023-08-11T17:48:11-05:00I’m wondering how age works in the books. For example, Daemon was 9 and 40 at his death, the high septon was 3 and 50 at his death, does that mean 49, and 53? Or is it different? Spoiler Warning: All officially-released show and book content allowed, including trailers and pre-released chapters. Honestly, at this point I would wait. The series is nearly over. But yes, the books are definitely worth reading. Some of the best fiction ever written, aside from my country's annual budget. There is a lot of deviation, and a lot of extra content, but the show adapted things well until Season 4.

G is a rating for general audiences, anyone could watch that show because there are no mature themes. PG-13 is a rating used to indicate that children under 13 should be okay watching it with the consent of a parent. Game of Thrones, however, has a solid R rating.
The nonprofit Common Sense Media (commonsensemedia.org) summarizes sensitive content in books as well as movies and apps, with age recommendations that seem on-target. (Their professional reviewer, for what it’s worth, pegged A Game of Thrones at 17+, while parents and kids on the site thought it was OK down to age 14.)
